The Alliance is a JOKE! (and we all know they're trying to cheat)

by The Football Vets

Alright here we go again. The PAC 12, The BIG 10, and the ACC have a big alliance that’s supposed to stop the SEC from getting all the playoff spots. Well that’s sounds like a desperate failing plan before it’s even announced. Waah; Waah. Sounds like a bunch of babies crying in their milk.

We told you when news broke that Texas and Oklahoma exiting the Big 12 to join the SEC that the Big 12 is going the way of the Dodo bird and the South West Conference. That should have let everyone know that there needed to be four 16 team conferences. Its obvious right?

Here is a warning to the three non-Big 12 Conferences. You have about 2 years to get teams from the Big 12 and Notre Dame on board and moving in the right direction. NCAA here is your notice: College football and college basketball are divorcing. Conferences if you don’t do this you are going to prolong the pain and reveal just how much you SUCK.

Right now, there are no teams in the PAC 12 that can consistently hope to get into the 12-team playoff. BIG 10 you got Ohio State. ACC you got Clemson and if you count 2020, Notre Dame. That leaves the rest of the 12-Team Playoff Positions to be filled by the SEC and, if the Power 4 let them, the Group teams. The Alliance-otherwise known as the Non-SEC Power 3--can only cheat at this point to guarantee their inclusion into the 12-Team Playoff.

So, under the currently projected conference format and the projected 12-Team Playoff this is what the rankings will probably look like:

1- Alabama (SEC)

2- Clemson (ACC)

3- Ohio State (B1G)

4- Notre Dame (ACC), Georgia (SEC), LSU (SEC), Oklahoma (SEC), Florida (SEC)

5- 5-way tie for 4

6- 5-way tie for 4

7- 5-way tie for 4

8- 5-way tie for 4

9- Texas A&M (SEC)

10- Penn State (B1G) **MAYBE If they only lose to Ohio State**

11- Appalachian State

12- Utah **MAYBE If they win their conference championship**

Do you think this is farfetched? The SEC just added two Blue Bloods that over the last 20 years have consistently vied for the CFB championships. This IS how it will be. So, if this is what the natural outcome would be, what exactly does the Alliance hope to accomplish? The answer is obvious. They intend to cheat. They intend to vote in such a way as to guarantee unworthy teams are included in the 12-Team Playoff. Ladies and Gentlemen what you are observing is College Football Corruption at its finest.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way. Once again we will offer up a lucrative path to a College Football Paradise for the Power 4 to embrace in all its brilliance. What we are offering is pure gold!

As we explained in how CFB should be, each Power 4 conference will have 16 regionally aligned teams. Under the Power 4 will be a realigned Group of 4, all regionally connected with their Power 4 counterpart. In order to ensure the Power 4 conferences are the best of the best, two processes will be locked in: first-The Power 4 Conferences will play each other throughout the year to observe parity; second-to guarantee only the best teams remain in the Power 4 there will be a Relegation Phase played concurrently with the 12 Team Play off. Because only the best teams survive in the Power 4 each year, we can guarantee a spot for the Conference Champions in the playoff and allow the balance of Playoff teams to be chosen from the Power 4 by the rankings.

Rankings begin based off the previous year’s rankings. Why? Because each team will play a team from each of the other conferences with every team playing a team from the Low Tier, Middle Tier, and Top Tier from another conference. Let’s look at an example:

a. University of Miami 2021 football schedule adjusted to add Mid Tier Team from the PAC 12 and removing Central Connecticut State University.

Now as we look at Miami’s 2021 schedule, they are already playing a Top-Tier Team and Low-Tier Team from two of the other three Power 4 Conferences. The only conference missing from the docket is a PAC 12 team. For the sake of the demonstration we chose Arizona State which is a Mid-Tier Team completing the circuit for Miami. Now, we would not have scheduled these games all in the first half of the season, but the games fell where they fell. Every Power 4 team would have these match ups.

The point of ensuring these contests occur is to establish a true ranking of teams across the conferences. This accurate ranking is vital to deciding the 8-at large teams for the 12-Team Playoff. Isn’t this what we want as fans? Don’t we want our teams to be given a fair chance at getting into the playoff?

If that is the case, the Alliance is not what CFB fans really want. Their only purpose is to weight the scales in their favor. They may get the money the 12-Team Playoff brings, but they will stunt what Money the 12-Team Playoff COULD bring. When fans get what they want, the conferences will secure more of what they want. And though the SEC is best conference, the conferences don’t need to gang up to safeguard their scraps. Lets just have some awesome college football.
